Translated, the name of this shrub is “dwarf wisteria,” but similarity to that robust vine is limited. It does have narrow, green-bronze leaflets reminiscent of wisteria, but it is much smaller and performs in places that could never accommodate a big, heavy vine. The tender, tropical shrub needs rich, moist soil and ample water in summer. In colder climates, grow it in a container that can be moved inside for winter. Trim off any errant climbing shoots.
