This naturally dwarf tree, selected in the Netherlands by Pete Vergeldt, is an selection with immense horticultural value. The dense, compact spire has soft, rich-green foliage that begs to be touched. In autumn, the fine, almost feathery needles change to red-brown and hold for weeks. In winter, beautifully tiered branches that point up at the tips give the small tree added elegance and character. The deciduous conifer can be kept small and narrow with hard late-winter pruning, if desired. Widely adaptable for both northern cold and southern hot areas.
