'Low Glow'
Low growing and vibrant green, this dwarf form of Japanese red pine can best be described as a cheerful Pinus densi-thunbergiii 'Jane Kluis'. Where 'Jane Kluis' is somewhat flat-topped, 'Low Glow' appears to have a more mounding, rounded habit. The growth is denser and more compact and needle color is a brighter green through the seasons. A seedling from a witch's broom introduced by Sydney Waxman, University of Connecticut. 3-5" per year. 3-4 ft. Green Globose Full sun. -40 to -30 F
Pinus

'Oculus
Draconis'
'Oculus Draconis' is one of the `Dragon Eye' pines, a group of intriguing and beautiful cultivars. This unusual selection of Japanese red pine is similar to the species in overall habit and appearance, and it is the creamy-gold bands on the needles that add interest and surprise to the casual observer. The soft green needles are ribboned with delicate horizontal stripes year-round, adding a hint of color to an otherwise evergreen tree. 12"+ per year. 10+ ft. Green/
Yellow Varie-
gated
Upright Broad Full sun. -30 to -20 F

Branches are somewhat brittle; handle with care. 6-12" per year. Varies with culture Green Pendulous Full sun. -30 to -20 F
